    Having over years of experience in the New Orleans restaurant industry, hospitality is a crucial component, equal to the food experience.My wife and I were going to a performance in a nearby theater, and wanted to have a quick bite and enjoy a cocktail before the show. I arrived downtown before my wife, who was delayed due to a job related situation. I went to two restaurants that wouldn’t seat me until my wife arrived. Having a drink at the bar while waiting for her wasn’t even an option. When I walked over to The Carlile Room, which is literally steps away from the theater, the hostess was exceptionally polite. I explained I was a party of two, but since my wife hadn’t arrived yet, I was willing to wait at the bar. With a warm smile, she immediately directed me to follow her to a table and asked me if I would care for anything while I wait for my wife. This is the definition of hospitality.Additionally, we really enjoyed the food!

    The Carlile room offers, what I'd consider to be, the worst value in Seattle.It's not that the food is terrible. It's fine, maybe even decent, depending on the dish. However, the portion sizes are a joke. I had the brassica and it was, without exaggeration, a /" thick slice of cauliflower with cherry tomatoes... for before tax and tip. Similarly, my partner's schnitzel was maybe / of a chicken breast with a tablespoon of some sort of slaw on the side. To justify these prices, the dishes either need to be twice as good or three times as large. We both left dinner absolutely starving and feeling like we got scammed.The service was pleasant and about the right level of attentiveness for an upscale casual restaurant and the atmosphere is nice in a vibey sort of way.

    The service was great and the drinks were even better! The food was good too, but for some of the prices, I don't know- I guess I expected something a little more. The baked cheese was delicious, but you only need of the foccaccia pieces because there's not enough cheese to warrant all . The burger was a little on the small side, and though it said medium it was more like medium well. I still went again, but passed on the burger and went for schnitzel which was delicious! It was cute how they had themed drinks to the Paramount theater across the street.

    We showed up early for our reservation and only had to wait several minutes to be seated. Very organic friendly interaction, not forced or patronizing. The whole meal was seamless, from drinks to the check. The Skagit Valley Chicken Schnitzel was unexpected with yuzu vinaigrette, and it totally works. The Bucatini Amatriciana was excellent, with a kick that lingered, so be prepared. I have to say bucatini pasta is no my favorite. Chewy and a perfect medium to hold the sauce. Cheesy Asian pear with in house made focaccia was perfect. The menu seems to change so no worry about running out of options. We will return. And you should, too, after the first time.
